Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH5: Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera

Panasonic releases its very first micro four-thirds camera Lumix DMC-GH5 that records up to 60 frames per second and operates its photo mode in 4K. It is the first in the GH collection to offer a 20.3-megapixel sensor with no optical low-pass filter.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH5 is packed in a weather sealed magnesium alloy chassis body which is dust, splash and freezeproof to 10 degrees Celsius. It comes with built-in Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth connection for auto transfer of images. It offers a larger screen and higher resolution electronic viewfinder. The camera installed has a record button and it is located on the top of the camera.

The latest camera can shoot Cinema 4K at 24p with a bit of 150Mbp or standard 4K at up to 60p. It also capable of recording internally at 10+ bit 4:2:2 at up to 30 fps, and the output at 4:2:2 at all settings by a full-sized HDMI port. It also offers live output to external recorders via HDMI such as Apple ProRes as well as simultaneous internal recording. The camera is also supported with Dual SD card slots

It features 5 Axis Dual IS II which offers both in the body and lens-based image stabilization with up to five stops compensation. There is also a Custom Multi mode that enables to freely select AF-area group or Zone F. The focus area group allows customizing the size and positioning of the subject. Users could also set up four different profiles with adjustable sensitivity. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH5 focuses at 0.05 seconds and with Venus Engine processing information at 480 fps.

The camera has an XLR Microphone adapter for professional video production which is attached via the hot shoe. The XLR Microphone offers two XLR jacks with physical switches and dials. It comes with a Three-Dimensional Color Control which is capable not only hue and saturation but also brightness.

The camera uses different color mappings for the brightest and darkest colors and then interpolating between them providing more authentic color and finer gradation as brightness varies across the image. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH5 will be released in March 2017, and the body alone can cost $2000.
