According to the aeronautical giant, the future of transport is up in the sky. It is not just any hoverboard or things like that. The company is visualizing a real flying car.
To make this dream a reality, Airbus has already appointed three different teams across the company on the project. The idea is to give the commuters an experience of air travel other than jet liners. This is not just a dream come true for many, but Airbus also aims at removing the traffic congestion from the roads. When airspace is being used, it will not put any pressure on the road traffic below, reported Top Gear.
It is reported that the idea is already being conceptualized and Tom Enders, the CEO of Airbus also stated that the company is planning to take the first step by testing prototypes in the latter half of 2017. "One hundred years ago, urban transport went underground," he said. "Now we have the technological wherewithal to go above ground," Tom added.
What Airbus visualizes is a thing of the future where the commuters can use their mobile phones to book a ride to travel across the town. Only difference is that the car, which is like a helicopter-car, will fly! The plan is to make a flying bus and the commuters can book this heli-van using an app. The company is following the footsteps of Uber where all the bookings will be through an app. Another ides is to create a flying car with just one or two seats, reported Mirror.
There is another plan of creating an airborne delivery service. In this plan, the delivery companies like Amazon and DHL will be the customers. Airbus is planning to build drones and the architecture to fly them efficiently.
Airbus is doing all it can to use the latest autonomous and AI technology to give people the experience to fly in cars. The company believes that the use of technology can minimize the risk of explosions mid-air.
Airbus is taking our dreams and making it fly in the sky. Being an aeronautical company, it will now be up to the company to make this a reality. Hopefully, the Harry Potter flying cars will be parked in our garage.
