Several automotive companies saw record sales numbers in November including companies like Hyundai, Nissan, and Honda.

Honda Motors saw a 39 percent increase in November compared to a year ago, selling almost 116,600 vehicles according to a company press release. This is the largest number of vehicles the company has ever sold in one month.

"We are now surpassing sales records set pre-recession, a true sign that our business has recovered," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales at American Honda in a press release.

Sales for Nissan vehicles also increased in November, seeing a 13 percent increase after selling over 96,000 vehicles. CR-V vehicles set another sales record in November after the company sold 22,333 models during the month according to a press release.

"Nissan's significant portfolio refresh of five new models in 15 months is showing results with the new Pathfinder driving sales of the model up nearly 250%," said Al Castignetti, vice president, Nissan Division to The Los Angeles Times.

Hyundai reported this week that sales went up eight percent in November after selling 53,487 vehicles. Sales for the Hyundai Elantra were up 28 percent, Sonata sales rose 13 percent the company said in a press release.

"The Black Friday sales period once again provided a strong boost for Hyundai in the back half of the month and helped break our all-time November sales record," said Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of sales to The Los Angeles Times. "We were also very encouraged by the strong sales recovery experienced in those northeastern regions that were ravaged by Superstorm Sandy and expect continued momentum there for the balance of the year."

According to a report by Edmunds.com, Superstorm Sandy could have played a huge role in sales numbers for specific models. Since 250,000 vehicles were destroyed in the storm, many people had to buy new vehicles to replace the ones they lost.

A representative for Ford conducted a report claiming that automotive companies sold over 1.1 million vehicles in November. This would be the highest sales number since 2008.
