Chevrolet announced that they will be unveiling the 2014 Corvette on January 13, 2013 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI.
The company made the announcement through a press release today, also confirming that the new vehicle will also feature a new logo.
Production for the 2013 model will stop early next year and production for the new vehicle is set to start in July sometime. Expect the company to have a tentative model out in early summer. This will be the first time the company has designed the Corvette since 2004 according to the press release.
"The all-new, seventh-generation Corvette deserved an all-new emblem," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design in the press release. "The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before - underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car."
The new Crossed Flags logo was revealed at Road Atlanta, where Corvette Racing also celebrated a sweep of the 2012 production-based American Le Mans Series GT championships according to the press release.
Chevrolet won the title for overall manufacturer, Corvette Racing won the overall team championship, and Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner won the drivers' championship after winning four out of nine races.
Winning the three championships means that Corvette Racing is now the most successful team in ALMS history. The company has a total of 77 class wins, eight drivers' championships, and nine manufacturer and team championships since 2001.
"Winning the ALMS championships with the Corvette C6.R, against prestigious competitors from Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW is the perfect send-off for the sixth-generation Corvette," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer in the press release.
The first Corvette was released in 1953.
