The miracle dog that somehow survived an 11 mile trip from Massachusetts to Rhode Island inside the grille of a car was reunited with its owner on Wednesday.

William Muggle, the Animal Control Supervisor in East Providence, said that the Toyota Camry was going 50 mph down Route 44 when the driver saw Suzie run out in front of his car. The driver then hit the brakes, but after not seeing anything he continued driving believing that he had missed the dog.

A little further down the road the driver was signaled by another driver who saw the dog stuck in the grille of his car. The driver then drove to a local police station, where animal control was called to remove the dog from the car. Animal control took the dog immediately to a local hospital.

"The dog was wedged in between the license plate and the grill," Muggle told ABC News.  "She was just holding on for dear life. She had paws gripped on the edge of the inside of the bumper."

After putting Suzie through multiple tests it was determined she suffered a concussion, a tear in her bladder and is missing tooth after the unplanned voyage. She is currently doing great and is extremely responsive considering what she went through.

"On the way to the hospital she stood up in the animal control vehicle and I was really surprised by that," Muggle said, adding, "I have definitely never seen anything like that before."

The dog's family reported her missing and after seeing her on television they contacted the East Providence Animal Control Center right away. They have said for now on, Suzie will be kept on a leash.

"They were very excited having the dog back," said Muggle, East Providence's animal control supervisor, who declined to identify the fortunate pup's family. "They saw the dog on TV, that's how they found out about it."
