Jionni LaValle's name is all over the news, as "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi gave birth to his baby - Lorenzo Domenic LaValle - on August 26.
While his name is ubiquitous, however, little is known of him beyond it.
It took some doing, but here's a brief bio on him.
According to Us Magazine, he grew up in East Hanover, New Jersey, as the youngest of four kids. When Snooki's pregnancy was announced earlier this year, his age was given as 24.
Most sources say he has a career in education. ABC News quoted Snooki as saying that her man was a wrestling coach for little kids and that he was going to school to be a gym teacher. Other sources don't say what kind of teacher. The Hollywood Reporter says that, in becoming a teacher, he followed in the footsteps of two older brothers.
However, Us reports that, while he considered a career in education, LaValle is actually an entrepreneur with his own ATM business.
Sources agree that he doesn't like the spotlight.
"He doesn't give a [expletive] about [celebrities]," Snooki told People. When he saw a photo of himself in a glossy, he "freaked out". "He said, 'I don't want to be in that world.'"
While LaValle appears tan and broad-shouldered in his photos, he apparently initially wasn't tan or pumped up for Snooki, who loves to stay bronze and has stated that steroids are a turn-on. "She wasn't sure about him at first," someone in the know told Us. "She was hesitant because he isn't the typical gorilla. He's pretty quiet."
Tracy DiMarco, star of the Style Network's Jerseylicious, went to high school with LaValle, and told People, "He's such a sweetheart." She added, "He's not into this whole fame game, so I think he tries to stay out of it as much as possible. He and his family are very down to earth."
Indeed, according to Us, LaValle's mother was not happy when he began a relationship with Snooki, and worried about how appearing on the show would make her son look. But as Snooki told the magazine, he understands that cameras are a fact of life now that he's with her. "In order to see me, he kind of has to suck it up," she said.
LaValle isn't completely media-shy. A Twitter account in his name has 298,846 followers, and receives fairly frequent updates. His latest tweet is: "Idk what I enjoy more, watching my fiancé sleep or watching my son sleep?...Both are amazing!"
