When Apple came up with the decision of eliminating its 3.5 mm Jack, there was a storm over social media and tech blogs - all criticising this decision for the convenience of humans. The move was applied to the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. The standard 3.5 mm Jack was taken away, leaving the users with just the charging port to connect the headphones or the connection wirelessly.
It has been long noted and observed that Apple sets trends and others follow. Will it be the same for the upcoming jack free devices too? Perhaps yes.
If sources are to be believed, Samsung has joined the force of anti-headphone jacks too. Samsung, in its upcoming mobile devices, is looking forward to making setting up its own proprietary jacks. The details have not yet been fully revealed, but it is widely anticipated that the headphone jack in Samsung's smartphones will be replaced with a USB-C type, which many Android devices these days are adopting to.
To keep the human trouble to the bare minimum, the designer of innovative ideas - Apple - has decided to include a headphone connector to the lighting port. It is, however, not sure whether the same will be done by Samsung. Nevertheless, there seems to be quite a bit of assembling to be done.
Another question that persists is whether this move by Samsung well-taken by consumers and the market?
If the rumour is to be true, and Samsung is doing it, then it could be time that companies start adapting to the new trend in technology - completely removing the headphone jack. With major companies moving towards this arguably convenient trend in smartphone design, market manufacturers will follow the same trend too.
There may seem nothing particularly wrong with the good old headphone jack, so an effort to fix it has become a questionable and undesirable act to practice. Has technology and innovation put convenience to aside?
