Toyota Recall 2012 Floor Mat Crisis: 2 Lexus Models Added to its Growing List

Toyota added two more Lexus models to its recall list, further lengthening a process that began in 2009.

The recall has been made to address the risk of a loose floor mat that could force down the accelerator. According to an official Toyota statement, "About 131,800 vehicles of the 2010 RX350 model and about 22,200 vehicles of its 2010 RX450H model would be recalled."

The car company guarantees owners of the Lexus models will receive a notification on the fixing the technical snag.

"Lexus dealers will handle the vehicles at no cost to the customers," reads the statement.

Toyota has recalled more than 3.8 million vehicles in the U.S. due to the floor mat issue. Since 2009, more than 19 million Toyota models have been recalled to address various issues with technical problems, as well as, attending minor system failures.

Last year, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHod announced a federal probe to be conducted on Toyota's claim of problems with the floor mat.
