Ford Motors Unveils Advanced Tech Lab In California

In an effort to stay on top of the latest car technology, Ford Motors unveiled its new project, a Silicon Valley Lab in California. 

This is the first time a world class automaker from the U.S. has setup its own tech lab in devoted to car technology. For years, automakers have been relying on software giants such as Microsoft, SAP and countless other tech firms to build the latest technology. Executive Chairman of Ford Motors Bill Ford was on hand for the big day.

"We urge partnerships between car makers and those in the electronics and  telecommunications business," Ford said during the ceremony. "We hope the industries can work together to combat trafficking gridlock and prevent accidents by using cell phones, sensors and other technology."

Ford Motors already has research facilities in Dearborn, Aachen, Germany; Nanjing, China and technology scouts in Tel Aviv, Israel.

"We have been innovating for more than a century at Ford Motors, but we acknowledge we don't have a monopoly on creativity," Ford said. "Our new office will complement our existing research efforts by allowing us to tap into the region that has been driving consumer technology forward in recent decades."

The Silicon Valley Lab will focus more on data to produce more vehicles to the market, as well as, addressing safety concerns through by harnassing the latest technology. 

"We want Silicon Valley to view Ford Motors as a platform that is open, accessible and ready for their innovative ideas and technologies," Ford said. "We are looking for unexpected solutions for the future, and we believe Silicon Valley is the right place to round out our global research organization. We view technology as more than just an impressive list of microprocessors, sensors and software. It is the enabler of a safe, intuitive and enjoyable time behind the wheel."
