16 Injured In Spanish Grand Prix Garage Fire

A total of 16 people were injured, one with severe burn, in an accidental fire that erupted in the William team garage on Sunday.

When the fire engulfed on the occasion of the Spanish Grand Prix, more than 32 medical staff assisted in evacuating formula one ground staff. The fire was started while the race was on its way to wrap up for the day.

In an official statement issued by the Williams formula one team, the fire indeed started in the garages near the fuel area. Four persons belong to the team were injured in the fire and was hospitalized for treatment. A proper medical staff has been assigned to them to take care of them personally.

"The Williams team is monitoring their health regularly and we are really serious about it. We have been following their routine check as a matter of showing our gratitude towards their dedication to our team for all these years. The fourth person has been released from the local hospital and the rest of the three are still taking medical care and attention," the statement said.

The rest of the 10 persons were treated at the local hospital and will be discharged once they are given with an adequate treatment. The management of the Formula One is assessed with its technical staff to make sure of the next formula one race at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan formula one driver Pastor Maldonaldo won the race for the first time his just 24 races in his career.
