Car Thief Knocks Himself Out With a Brick During Robbery

Talk about embarrassing. A car thief knocked himself out while attempting to steal a Mercedes when the brick he threw at a window rebounded back and hit him in the head.

The thief was found on the floor by the landlord of a Pheasant bar in Drogheda, Ireland.

The landlord, Gerry Brady, originally believed the thief was a part of a hit-and-run, but when he asked the man what happened he claimed he had been attacked.

The landlord became suspicious when the thief didn't want the police to be notified.

Brady realized what had happened once he noticed his brand Mercedes E Coupe had been damaged. After checking the CCTV things became a lot clearer.

"My partner then noticed the damage to her car, I had a look at the Merc and could see dents on it. We got the cops and they took him away after we showed them the CCTV." Mr Brady told the Irish Examiner newspaper.

The thief first tried to break the windows of the Mercedes E Coupe with rocks, but when that didn't work, he looked for a brick. After finding one the thief apparently thought it would be a god idea to try breaking through the Mercedes window.

Instead of flying through the window it bounced back and smacked the car thief in the face, knocking him out cold.

Brady uploaded the video online to give the world a chuckle.

"Idiot gets a smack in the face from his own brick as he attempts to break into car," he wrote in the caption of the video. "Owner arrives seconds later and he is soon arrested with major head injuries. Taken with a phone off the cctv...it looped back to beginning of scene, hence he vanishes. So, sorry about that...it was a simple phone clip to show friends, but happened to go viral."

Brady said that after the authorities stopped laughing they found the guy within minutes.
