General Motor announces the more fuel-efficient and quicker engine 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Turbo, available in a six-speed automatic transmission along with the manual mode.

Cristi Vazquez, Chevrolet spokeswoman says that GM has further plans to launch similar models in the days to come. “We’re trying to expand the line as we go,” adds Vazquez. With an option of turbocharged engine with the automatic transmission in the Sonic, shoppers who are not interested in driving a manual mode can now get the 2012 Chevy Sonic with the 1.4-liter turbo engine.

Experts predict that the Ecotec turbo engine fitted in Sonic is extremely fuel-efficient and much quicker than the 1.8-liter four-cylinder that is in the other Sonic models available. The Sonic with the turbo engine is rated by EPA at an estimated 37 miles per gallon on the highway, whereas the manual transmission has been rated at 40 miles per gallon.

GM states in a press release that the new Sonic Turbo model is designed for those who are shy of stick-shy. The automatic transmission with the turbo engine in 2012 Chevrolet Sonic will be able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in just eight seconds.
