Volkswagen will launch the redesigned 2015 Jetta at this week's New York Auto Show, showcasing its styling and fuel efficiency updates.
The latest model features styling touches to the front and rear as well as improved efficiency through reduced wind resistance and new tires.
To increase safety, the 2015 Jetta is available with driver assistance systems such as Blind Spot Detection, frontal collision warning and rear cross-traffic alert, Volkswagen said in a press release.
The exterior has added sleekness with a new bumper and underbody panels as well as rain gutters with improved aerodynamics, Jalopnik reported. On the inside, the Jetta has "subtle but significant changes" and includes several new options for various trim levels.
According to VW, some of the available options are a new multifunction steering wheel; redesigned air vent controls; piano black accents on the center console and around the gear shift lever; ambient lighting; and fresh fabric colors and seat designs.
The new Jetta, which should arrive at dealerships in the third quarter of this year, will continue to be offered with the option of three four-cylinder gas engines, a 1.4-liter turbocharged hybrid engine, and a new 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine.
The bestselling model for the brand, the Jetta sold 925,000 units last year; however, it was among several VW models included in a stop sales order issued by the carmaker last week.
Jalopnik reported the April 8 memo stipulating that dealers stop selling Jetta, Passat and Beetles models with the 1.8-liter turbocharged engine and automatic transmissions. The order comprised cars built after February 1 and cited "potential risk of the transmission oil cooler leaking" after reports from owners.
The stop sale included around 25,000 vehicles and was related to a faulty seal, according to the USA TODAY report.
"There have been some complaints from customers--oil leaking on the ground," spokesman Mark Gillies told USA TODAY.
VW is talking with federal safety regulators and said a recall order was "likely."
