Autonomous vehicles had been introduced into the market in recent years. However, the Roborace Robocar is the first of its kind, a driverless electric race car that has the same performance capacity of formula one race cars of today. What are the specs?

The Roborace Robocar will be powered by four electric motors that can generate a total of 400 hp., a battery capacity of 540 kWh, and can run a maximum speed of more than 200 mph, reported CNET. Being an autonomous vehicle, it will also utilize five lidar emitters, two radar emitters, and 18 ultrasound sensors which will ensure uninterrupted autonomous driving. On top of which, the vehicle will also be installed with six cameras and two optical speed sensors that the user can navigate with the use of Nvidia's Drive PX2 computer.

With the technological features, the vehicle surprisingly weighs just 2,150 lb. which is actually lighter than the famous petite car model, Miata. It will take a team to generate a software that would maneuver the vehicle that, if they fail to incorporate the controls to make the model autonomous, the Roborace Robocar will not be allowed to compete on the race track.

In other news, Mirror reported that the futuristic ideas were first announced during the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona this year. In fact, the idea of the vehicle was already manifested in blockbuster films such as "Oblivion" and "Tron Legacy." Furthermore, the model was labeled to set a new dimension in motorsport history as there has never been an autonomous race car introduced into the market.

According to the Roborace Robocar Chief Design Officer, Daniel Simon, the boundaries of engineering had been breached with every style incorporated into the vehicle. In fact, the car utilizes several advanced technological features that enable it to be autonomous with the use of radar only. Is this model the start of a revolutionized way of race cars in the future?
