‘Marco Polo' Season 3 Setbacks: Release Date, News and Updates [VIDEO]

The Netflix original series, "Marco Polo", revolves around the world where greed, betrayal, rivalry and sexual intrigue dominate the famed historical figure Marco Polo during his years of adventures in the court of the strong conqueror Kublai Khan. The show had two seasons released, and a much awaited third season is expected by the viewers hooked to the series.

"Marco Polo" was written and created by John Frusco. The first season of this historical adaptation was first released by Netflix on Dec. 12, 2014. In the second season, Netflix renewed the show "Marco Polo". The 10-episode season two premiered last July 1, 2016. Updates on the third season remain unclear, though, with a few setbacks by the actors involved in the show, according to GamenGuide.

Season one of the show "Marco Polo" garnered mixed reviews from viewers, a majority of it leaning to the negative. Rotten Tomatoes even gave the rating of 24 percent, which is a huge blow to the series production crew. The second season did not get enough reviews from critics, although viewers gave it a good approval rating. The series creator and its production crew admit that the show begun with a whole lot of difficulties.

The lead actor Lorenzo Richelm, who played the role of Marco Polo, was reportedly dismayed when he discovered that the show will be shown as a web series on Netflix, according to Parent Herald. The limited viewers due to constricted Netflix access might affect the popularity and numbers of viewers which can hurt the show's ratings.

Leonard Wu (Orus) reportedly will not re-join the cast of "Marco Polo" due to another project, as reported by Game n Guide. Rumours circulated that Benedict Wong, who play the role of Kublai Khan, demanded to have an increased pay for his role in the third season. The expected release date of "Marco Polo" season 3 is mid-July of next year, 2017. More updates are expected to be released soon.

The "Marco Polo" Season 2 trailer is yet to be surpassed. Here is a Netflix trailer for "Marco Polo" Season 2:
