AMD Ryzen: Prices Leaked, Intel is in Trouble

The AMD Ryzen CPUs will release as early as the end of the month. Boasting comparable or even better specs than Intel, the latest price leak is a big blow to the Santa Clara tech company.

Price Leak. According to Forbes, Intel should be very worried about the price leak. An online store, www.shopblt.com, has leaked three Ryzen SKUs. All of them are in the 7-series: the Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X, and 1700. A previous leak has allegedly revealed the entire Ryzen CPU range with a total of 17 different CPUs, most with 8 cores and 16 threads.

The best part about the leak is the AMD Ryzen's price range. The 1800X is only $490.29, the 1700X is $381.72, while the 1700 is $316.59.

Another UK Website Hexus has also spotted pricing from www.kiktek.co.uk for the same units. The CPUS have a price tag of£365.65, £283.31, and £235.35 for the Ryzen R7 1800X, 1700X, and 1700 CPUs, respectively.

This is significant because this means that the AMD Ryzen chips are 70% cheaper than Intel. Moreover, the Ryzen 5 CPUs will be even cheaper and will most likely offer better value for money than Intel's mid-range 7000-series Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs. The Ryzen 3 range, whose price was previously allegedly leaked, will compete with Intel's low-end dual and quad-core CPUs.

Windows 7 Support. In other related Ryzen news, TechSpot has reported that the Sunnyvale semiconductor and chip manufacturer has confirmed that their CPUs won't offer support for Windows 7. While recent reports have revealed that the company did test the processors on the older OS, support won't be available for the older OS. This is important because it still remains to be the most popular version of Windows to date.

The AMD Ryzen CPUs are expected to come as early as the end of the month. The company has already confirmed this and has also confirmed that the Vega 10 GPU will shortly follow. What will Intel do to fight back? Thoughts and comments below.
