Kia Launches Limited Edition 'Red Zone' 2014 Soul

Kia has announced a special edition of the 2014 Kia Soul called the "Red Zone," which should be in dealerships in the spring.

The first special edition of the 2014 Soul, the Red Zone was inspired by the lauded "Track'ster" concept that Kia showcased at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, according to a company press release.

The Red Zone edition of the Kia Soul has a white exterior with red accents that include stylized treatments on the front grille, front and rear fascias and sides. The model features custom 18-inch alloy wheels, a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine with 164 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission.

For the interior, the Red Zone boasts black cloth seats with red stitching, a leather steering wheel, a black-leather dash hood with red stitching, black floor mats with red piping and sport pedals, according to the press release.

Other touches of red include the shift knob ring, air vent ring, dash speakers and console tray trim.

The all-new Soul has a longer and wider chassis and more space for passengers and cargo, said the press release. Improved torque, Bluetooth wireless technology and steering wheel-mounted controls also make the new Soul an upgrade.

According to Kia's tradition for special edition cars, the Red Zone will be a limited edition with just 2,000 models to be produced.

"The Soul has always appealed to those who choose to express their individuality through their vehicle, and special editions have been a part of the lineup since the first-generation Soul went on sale in 2009," said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing and communications for Kia Motors America. "The Red Zone Soul underscores that independent spirit and brings to life many styling features from our wild Track'ster concept."
