Ford announced a new police sedan model this week based on the 2014 Ford Taurus that's fully equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
The automaker said the vehicle is a "patrol car" that is "non-pursuit rated" in a company press release.
"The EcoBoost engine should help make this special service police sedan the first law enforcement vehicle to achieve 30 mpg or better in EPA highway ratings," said Ford in a press statement.
A teaser image was released by the automaker on its website.
Company spokesman Paul Seredynski said that the vehicle's launch date and pricing will be revealed later on this year.
EPA estimates will be revealed in December according to Ford.
"Ford created this patrol car directly from feedback from departments," Seredynski said to Edmunds this week.
The special service police package will save agencies approximately $5,040 over three years.
