Russian Hovercraft Scares Crowd After Landing on Beach (VIDEO)

Hundreds of people in Russia were scared this weekend after a large military hovercraft landed on a beach shoreline.

The 550-ton craft, carrying automatic weapons, mine-laying equipment, and missiles, was conducting a routine training mission according to Sky News.

"Docking at the beach is normal," a spokesman for the defense ministry" said Andrey Bespaly, a spokesman for the Baltic Fleet Western military district to Komsomolskaya Pravda. "What people were doing at the beach on the territory of the military (base) is unclear."

The Zubr hovercraft is nicknamed the Bison.

Marines were seen jumping out of the craft by those at the beach so that they could rope off the hovercraft.

No one was injured according to Sky News.

The 187-foot-long craft can carry 130 tons of cargo and 400-500 troops.

"After the drill was over, the cordon was removed and the ship sailed back to its base, "said Bespaly.
