The 2018 Audi S6 has been spotted while testing in Nurburgring. The BMW 5 series rival still hides under heavy wraps but noticeable aspects confirm the upcoming model. Is the new saloon nearing completion?

Audi seems to have a handful of new models simultaneously being developed. The new S6 is still expected to be introduced next year. While the majority are expecting its sibling A6 to come out first, the presence of the new S6 on the testing track seems to hint on the model's near completion stage.

Despite the heavy camouflage, noticeable aspects typical of all the S-models of Audi can be spotted. The prototype has the four exhaust pipes and the large wheels, hence it can no longer be mistaken as an A6 mule.

It also runs with purposeful brakes. The larger alloy wheels appear to hide the beefier brakes of the new saloon.

Speculations also say that the new model will most likely have increased size compared to the current model. It will probably be longer and wider than the existing S5.

The new S6 is expected to run with the 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine from its predecessor. It is also speculated that the new model will have an electric compressor support.

It is speculated that the automaker might enhance the engine variants to achieve a leveled up power. An engine that can deliver 349 bhp and 500Nm of torque is highly expected of the new saloon.

With regard to styling, it remains to be seen regarding the final aesthetic refreshes. However, the automaker has already teased that they will now shun away from the usual "Russian doll" style. The new design strategy actually stemmed from the efforts of the new head of design, Marc Lichte.

The 2018 Audi S6 is anticipated to make its grand debut by the end of 2018. The new saloon is also expected to hit the showrooms by 2019. But with the spotted mule, is the new saloon coming out sooner than expected?
