Mercedes To Soon Pull The Plug On SLC-Class?

Mercedes recently hinted that it is ready to let go of some of its niche models. With this, the SLC-Class may be the first to get the boot. This may draw various reactions from industry experts, with others disliking such move while the rest may support it.

The Mercedes SLC-Class formerly called the SLK disappeared for good from the cycle plan. This is in contrast to previous rumors wherein such class will be altogether redesigned and will ride on a new MSA platform.

Not to worry though, as Mercedes is likely to improve and steer its attention to the C-Class Convertible in place of the SLC. Another related news also suggests that the next generation AMG GT and Mercedes SL will be riding on the same platform. The AMG GT is expected to be a little bit larger and more luxurious.

On the other hand, the SL is expected to stay away from the retractable hard top and have it replaced with a more traditional canvas roof. There are reports which state that the S-Class Coupe may also be dropped with the E-Class Coupe replacing it.

There is no official news stating the reason behind axing the SLC-Class. However, it may be due to the fact that Mercedes is already crowded with its line-up of small roadsters and two-door vehicles. There is also a decrease of significance and relevance in terms of consumer demands.

The future of Mercedes may be a little blurry as this point. As its S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are also expected to be discontinued, it may have something else for people to look forward to. It is best to wait for future developments from Mercedes, to know what it has in store for its avid fans all over the world.
