‘Fate of the Furious’ Gains Massive Social Media Buzz Ahead of Release Date

The hype surrounding the upcoming "Fate of the Furious" movie is getting bigger by the day. The movie, which is expected to open on April 14, is dominating discussions on several social media platforms. Media-measurement firm comScore reported that the movie is hitting close to 41,000 new conversations in last week alone.

"Fate of the Furious" is the eighth installment of the highly successful "Fast and Furious" movie franchise. The upcoming movie has generated 947,000 conversations ahead of its official launch. According to Variety, these discussions were all tracked through various social media platforms.

In a report released by comScore which tallied films discussions from March 13 to March 19, "Fate of the Furious" garnered a total of 40,973 new conversations pushing its cumulative score to 947,694. That is an impressive record that could translate to real-world movie attendance.

The comScore weekly report shows that "Despicable Me 3" is in second place with 25,463 new conversations. The movie is expected to open on June 30 and has garnered 72,611 cumulative conversations.

In third place is "Power Rangers" from Lionsgate. The movie score 24,885 new conversations and a total of 548,239 cumulative conversations. The movie is expected to open on March 24.

"Ghost in the Shell," which is based on a Japanese animated film of the same title, is in fourth place with 24,347 new conversations and a total of 269,944 cumulative conversations. The movie, which stars Scarlett Johansson, will be released in the United States on March 31.

Closing the top five is "Wonder Woman" which generated 19,506 new conversations and a total of 607,847 conversations. The film stars Gal Gadot, who has previously worked with the "Fast and Furious" franchise and will open on June 2.
