The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is one of the most highly-anticipated pickup trucks expected to be released this year. Recently, the motoring world was in jubilant uproar after a handful of spy shots of a camouflaged X-Class have made rounds over several motoring blogs.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class, despite adorned in camouflage decals, reveals a different rear bumper design, production-ready headlights and a new tailgate design. The truck revealed by the spy shots appear to have a more noticeable design which closely resembles the concept truck unveiled by Mercedes at the Geneva Motor Show.

Another noticeable change from past spy shots is the presence of two fuel caps. This particular detail has led many in the motoring community to believe that the truck will feature a twin-tank configuration, or even a plug-in hybrid powertrain, according to Car Scoops.

The base model of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is expected to feature rear-wheel drive. However, an all-wheel drive configuration is also a possible upgrade. Engine choices are 4- and 6-cylinder models.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is expected to skip the United States market upon its release. Although it is still not clear whether the truck will completely be unavailable in the US market or will be released on a much later date. One of the reasons Mercedes-Benz pointed out is the lack of interest for mid-size truck in the US, according to Car Buzz. Full-size trucks are the most preferred models in this particular market.

Moreover, there are certain federal laws that make it hard to sell pickup trucks that are not made within the US. The company believes that the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup truck will cost a premium should they decide to release it in the US. Nevertheless, Mercedes fans in the US still has one hope, as the company has a facility based in Alabama that could take care of the local manufacturing of the X-Class.
