All-New 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Gets Performance, Design Upgrades

The new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was recently released and it packs a slew of nifty features all tucked into a familiar design. Jeep made a couple of iterations on the exterior design, but majority of the improvements and upgrades were made under the hood and in the interior.

The base model of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee packs a 3.6-liter Laredo V6 petrol engine with 213-horsepower and 347lb-ft of torque. This entry-level model features rear-wheel drive and costs $47,500.

A new variant was also added to the growing lineup of Jeep Grand Cherokee, and that is the Trailhawk model. This particular model packs a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic drivetrain. It has 184-horsepower and 570lb-ft of torque. The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk model costs $74,000 before on-road costs.

The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is equipped with a Quadra-Drive 2 4x4 system, as well as an electronic limited-slip rear differential. It also features underbody skid plates, Neutral Grey grilles and mirrors, a black hood color, and red colored front two hooks. It has a reworked front fascia kitted with new LED fog lights and a new alloy wheel design, according to Car Advice.

On top of the list is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. It packs a massive 6.4-liter V8 Hemi engine with 344-horsepower and 624lb-ft of torque, according to Drive. The SRT model, kitted with performance enhancing tweaks, costs $91,000.

In terms of internal upgrades, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee has a new gear selector, front door glass and acoustic windscreen. Tech upgrades like active safety feature, lane departure warning, and parking assist all come standard for the SRT model and an option for the Limited and Trailhawk models.
