Apple Making Push Towards iCar, Lists Automotive Job Postings On Their Website, Could Include iPad Integration, Siri Eyes Free (VIDEO)

Apple appears closer than ever towards working on their rumored iCar after it was revealed this week they listed automotive job postings on their company website as first reported by GottaBeMobile.com.

Apple is reportedly making a big "push" towards delivering on the late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs' idea for an iCar. Jobs dreamed on introducing a vehicle that would "challenge Detroit" and it seems the current heads at Apple are determined to carry out his vision.

"Apple is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Manager to drive iPod/iPhone/iPad integration testing with car stereos. In this role you will be a hands-on manager, guiding the team to test car stereo compatibility with iOS products," said a posting on Apple Insider, as the company appears to be looking for someone to test iOS integration with car stereos.

The company posted two other listings on the site in February according to Apple Insider. The postings stated that company was looking for iOS Car Service employees, to work on application and framework development.

Why The iCar Could Work

Siri Eyes Free:

One of Apple's newest features includes Siri Eyes Free, which focuses on safety and allows drivers to access their phone simply by using voice commands. The feature has slowly started to be introduced into new vehicles and has been praised by car critics and fans alike.

The feature can turn the phone off and on simply by telling it too, and can be accessed by a button located on certain car steering wheels. Siri can access media on your Apple device, contacts, directions, send text messages, and save calendar appointments, to name a few.

Siri would also help users access Apple Maps, which was developed by the company for iOS devices. The feature has been criticized since being introduced, but the company has worked out a few of the bugs and seems determined to put out a Maps app to rival Google Maps or MapQuest.

iPad Enhancements:

It was revealed this week by Ferrari at the Geneva Auto Show that their FF coupe will utilize two iPad mini tablets mounted to the headrest to provide vehicle entertainment. This could be accomplished in other vehicles if Apple wanted to, and even in the rumored iCar. New iPad and iPad mini 2 devices are rumored to be released this spring or summer, and while no specifics have been released yet about the devices, they could include more features to be utilized while driving.

Patents Secured:

Apple has already reportedly filed a number of different patents that would suggest the company is working on an iCar like an iPad mount that works by using magnets. The mount can hold tablets like Apple's iPad and iPad mini devices in place in while riding in a vehicle.

Custom mounts have worked successfully in vehicles already for people who wanted to access their iPad, Nexus 7, and Samsung tablets while driving.

Apple would most likely use the magnets to mount tablets inside the vehicles dash, but the iPad could be mounted to the ceiling of the vehicle as well like a drop-down screen on a bus or airplane if they wanted to.
