2018 Audi A8 Design Leaks From Winter Test Runs

Audi is very busy these days but not at the Geneva Auto Show. The German automobile manufacturer is reportedly testing the next generation Audi A8 and S8 while the auto trade show is going on.

Audi is testing out the A8. A8 and its sibling, the S8, are expected to arrive sometime in the next year. For the meantime, interested parties will just have to make do with spy shots of the vehicle on test runs. Even with the vehicle camouflaged, it seems that it is almost for production.

The new Audi A8 is based off the German car manufacturer's latest MLB2 platform. It is from the D5 generation and shares its underpinnings with Audi's A4, Q7, and the Bentley Bentayga.

Even under heavy camouflage, one can tell that the new A8 shares a few of its design aspects with the Prologue concept car that was revealed over a year ago. Dimension-wise, it appears that the new A8 will not be that different from the previous model. It looks a longer overall with a wheelbase that's a little bit longer than the last one.

The car is expected to sport the same design language as the new A7 and A6. The front profile of the vehicle looks different because of new overhangs, a new front bumper, redesigned headlamps, and a new grille design.

It sports a sloping roofline and standard alloy wheels. It should be noted that the alloy wheels could just be on the car for testing purposes.

The Audi A8 2018 model is said to feature new upholstery and the MMI infotainment system which could get an OLED screen and gesture control support. Speculations say that the vehicle could come with a traffic jam pilot system which will allow for autonomous driving of up to 60 kilometers per hour.

The mid-size sedan is expected to have a 6.0-liter W12 Bi-Turbo engine under its hood. It is said that the engine will be able to churn out 600bhp and torque of 900Nm.
