2017 Jeep Patriot Budget Friendly SUV Option; Unfortunately NOT The Best Option. See What Experts Say

The 2017 Jeep Patriot is considered a budget-friendly and cost effective SUV. However, critics say that it is not the ultimate and best option. It is somehow difficult to believe that something from Jeep doesn't fare well as its other vehicles from the group. Unfortunately, there is always that one vehicle which will not be well-received, in this case, it is the 2017 Renegade.

According to US News and World Report, the 2017 Jeep Patriot is a good option if a certain buyer is after something affordable and can take on the road performing as an off-roader. The Renegade, staying true to the reputation of Jeep, can deliver. However, for someone who would be spending more time on the road, it is better off to consider other SUVs in the market.

The 2017 Jeep Patriot even only given an overall score of 5.5 points out of a possible 10. Such data is obtained from 80 pieces of research and data elements using various sources. It got the highest rating of only seven points for its Safety features, however, performance and interior only got mediocre 5.6 and 5.8 points respectively. Critic's rating is even just 5.2.

Jeep vehicles are less likely to be given such mediocre ratings from critics and experts. Unfortunately, the Patriot did not meet their discriminating taste. This should serve as a good lesson. The next Patriot should be way better and different from 2017.

The site can't recommend the Patriot because of its disappointing powertrain. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has slow off-the-line power and adds to more road noise. The 2.4-liter engine has more power but it is still considerably loud. Acceleration is also still not up to par.

Unfortunately, the interior also is uninspiring. There is only 23 cubic feet of cargo behind the rear seat. The passenger space is just adequate. Other SUVs of its kind offer more space and comfort that the 2017 Jeep Patriot. Also, by adequate doesn't equate to comfort. It can accommodate three adults but will be uncomfortably cramped.

As added by Auto Blog, at least the 2017 Jeep Renegade is one safe SUV. It got perfect five stars from NHTSA Crash Test Ratings. It got a perfect score in Side-Pole, Side Barrier Rating Passenger Rear Seat, Side-Pole Barrier combined (Front), Overall slide, Slide Barrier Rating Driver, Slide-Barrier, and Side-Pole Barrier Combined (Rear).

The 2017 Jeep Patriot is not a perfect SUV. Many may agree with the experts' review while some may defend the Patriot's overall performance. At the end of the day, everything is based on the buyers themselves. Do you agree with the experts? Let's see if the video presentation below shares the same insights as the majority of experts.
