BMW i8 Is Depreciating Faster Than Expected, Vehicle Can Sell AT $60,000 In A Few Years

One of the prevailing electric cars on the market today, BMW i8, has dropped its value due to the emergence of brand new models with higher mileage. In fact, it has been considered as one of the low-priced electric vehicles of today.

At present, the brand new BMW i8 is valued with a price tag of around $143,000 before taxes and dealer fees, reported BMW Blog. It is still considered as an expensive car, at present, but is expected to become cheaper as the month's pass. In fact, the report indicated it could be purchased for about $60,000 in a few years. For the used models in America, the automobile sells for under $90,000 - $60,000 off its original price.

Car enthusiasts are baffled at how fast the vehicle depreciates given that it is an electric vehicle, one of the technologically advanced automobiles of today. Most customers prefer to buy these type of cars due to the edge of technology. However, the market segment of electric vehicles is constantly developing that the model faces tough competition every month. For example, the Porsche 911 Turbo and Aston Martin Vantage were referred to as impressive vehicles but are facing a depreciation as well.

In other news, Car and Driver reported that the BMW i8, a plug-in hybrid with exterior styling, is still considered as a unique and worth the purchase. It ha the efficient technology, sporting features, and competitive pricing. In fact, the Tesla Model S sedan and Acura NSX, both electric vehicles, are priced higher than the model. Furthermore, the model can be upgraded to run 357hp, built with a carbon fiber and aluminum body kit, dual-LCD screen infotainment, and driver information system, and luxurious interiors.

At present, the BMW i8 is priced at $143,000. However, reports indicated that it will become cheaper in the coming years. In fact, it could be sold at a cheaper price of $60,000. Have the electric cars developed at a faster pace that models are becoming cheaper by the month?
