2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell: Forward-Thinking and Hydrogen-Powered; the Car of a Greener Future

The 2017 Honda Clarity is a hydrogen-powered car. While it may not be for everyone, it fits perfectly into a particularly healthy, green, and environment-friendly niche lifestyle.

According to Torque News, the new Clarity Fuel Cell has an advanced hydrogen fuel stack that is very compact. In fact, it is no larger than a V6 Honda I.C. engine. Moreover, there is no need for a large battery module to extend its electric-only range. There is also no need for a gas co-generator for the battery.

The all-new 2017 Clarity sedan is around the size of an Accord. It has no plugs or cords, and it refuels faster than an EV. It also has a generous driving range that lets you go farther than a regular EV.

The Honda Clarity is the most advanced car ever produced by the Japanese automaker. It is the latest in a series of fuel cell vehicles from the automaker, according to Edmunds. While the automaker has tested other fuel cell concept cars in the past, this will available for sale to the general public.

The Clarity Fuel Cell uses compressed hydrogen. There is an onboard fuel cell converter that converts the hydrogen to electricity with the help of oxygen. The car can then function and operate as a regular EV, however, this is wireless. In addition, the fuel cell's only byproduct is pure, liquid water.

While Toyota has its own Mirai Fuel Cell, the Honda Clarity seats five while the Toyota sedan only seats four. In addition, another age has a projected over a 300-mile range. While it has a lot of advantages over an EV, there are only a limited number of hydrogen refueling stations.

The Clarity has decent performance as well. While it is not a fast car, it can still do 174 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, the maximum torque can is immediately achievable, similar to an EV.

The Clarity Fuel Cell is manufactured by Honda and will thus have its Honda Sensing tech suite including full safety features. It will also have a beautiful "lounge-inspired" interior complete with full tech features.

The 2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell has only just begun. Hopefully, it will become widely used like an EV and more hydrogen refueling stations will come out. The Fuel Cell is truly the start to having a greener automotive future.
