It is reported to share its common components with the 2018 Equinox. It offers three different engines which include two turbocharged gas four-cylinders and a turbodiesel four.
Each of the offered engines is capable of producing enough power supply needed by GMC's upcoming compact SUV. The 1.5-liter gas four is capable of 170-horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the 2.0-liter inline four can generate 252-horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The 1.6-liter diesel four makes 137-horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque.
The gas engines will be paired with nine-speed automatic transmissions and the diesel version gets six-speed automatic. Fuel economy has not been provided, however, it is reported to be better than the previous model as it registers to around 40 mpg on the EPA highway cycle.
Many worry that the 2018 Terrain may look like 2018 Equinox's twin, but there is no need to worry. The Terrain is unique and completely different from the Equinox as it boasts of unique characteristics which sets it apart. The lighting elements are intricate and a floating-roof look. There will also be different trims available: SL, SLE, SLT and Denali.

It also has the new version of Electronic Precision Shift gear selector which makes use of buttons and switches as opposed to the outdated lever to open more space on the center console. It also has a 7.0-inch center display which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
