Microsoft Surface Pro is facing stiff competition in the ultraportable tablet market following the reveal of a successor to Samsung's TabPro S. The South Korean giant postponed the launch of the Galaxy S8 smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC). The leaked product details of the new Samsung tablet might be a portent to the Galaxy Note 7-maker's bigger announcement for the device in Barcelona.

The so-called Samsung Galaxy TabPro S2 will have Windows 10 and will retain the design aesthetic of its predecessor. Inside the 12-inch tablet is a seventh-generation Kaby Lake Core i5 processor from Intel, a 128 GB of SSD, and a 4 GB of RAM. Its display will sport a Quad HD Super AMOLED. Battery capacity is at 5070 mAh.

The leaked FCC listing suggests that the Samsung tablet will have a 5MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera with 4K video recording. The mobile device might sport the Windows Hello facial log-in. It will have two USB 3.0 Type-C ports and a micro SD slot to accommodate larger memory sizes.

The entry of the TabPro S2 will intensify the competition in the growing ultraportable Pro tablets market. The hottest name in this segment is Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 which is currently the product category's poster child.

The Pro 4's successor, the Surface Pro 5, is going to have its official reveal soon. According to PC Advisor UK, Microsoft's next tablet might have its world debut at the MWC this month. The Pro 5 might go head-to-head against Samsung's TabPro S2.

The Surface Pro 5 is another hardware that is getting a big buzz from tech industry observers. This January, Microsoft reduced the price of Surface Pro 4, a move that hints at a grander push for the Pro 5.

Several reports show that this device will have a 4K display and a stylus that recharges wirelessly. Other speculated features include Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 processor and LTE for mobile connectivity.
