Finally! The much-awaited 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 has revealed its base price which would cost $40,995. That would be the amount that needed before anyone can take home Chevy's midsize maulers. The off-road truck made its debut at the LA Auto Show last December and immediately got a lot of attention.

The ZR2 price gives owners a lot of off-road goodies, such as segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSV shocks, off-road body protection, front and back electronic locking differentials, high-clearance front and rear bumpers, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac off-road tires, and a redesigned suspension yielding a 2-inch lift and 3.5-inch increase track width. In addition, Chevy also has a lot of standard features available on the ZR2, which includes the Colorado's trailering package, a spray-on bed liner, heated front seats, and Chevrolet MyLink radio navigation.

The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 and 275 lb-ft torque which should get the truck around and over most rocks. Having the optional 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel I4 will drop the truck's output to only 186 hp, but the 369 lb-ft of torque will make up the loss. Both of the engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Its four-mode AutoTrac four-wheel-drive system is improved to include Eaton electronically locking differentials on both axles. The axle ratio is stable at 3.42:1, and has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

Also, a unique front fascia significantly enhances the truck's angle and clearance to the front tires every time it hits an obstacle on a rocky trail. It also has a skid plate that protects the radiator and oil pan, fitted with another further back shielding the transfer case.

The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is not exactly competing with Ford's full-size desert stormer, the F-150 Raptor, but it would likely take on Toyota's Tacoma TRD Pro when it goes on sale. The ZR2 will go on sale this spring 2017.
