The highly-anticipated launch of "Grand Theft Auto 6" (GTA) remains unclear following Rockstar Games' confirmation of "Red Dead Redemption 2" (RDR2), which will be made available to video games fans in fall of 2017. The sixth installment of GTA will have a 2020 release instead of 2018 due to the decision of the gaming company to focus on "Red Dead Redemption."

According to Neurogadget, Rockstar wants to expedite the release date of "Red Dead Redemption 2" while working on GTA 6. It's been seven years since Rockstar introduced the video game's first version. While this period is far too long for a sequel, Rockstar has assured fans they could have RDR2 later this year.

There were previous talks that blamed the delay of GTA 6 on financial issues, but Rockstar denied these speculations. The game developer invested $265M for the development and marketing of GTA 5. The company's financial viability remains in the black because GTA 5 has reached $800M sales between 2013 and 2016.

GTA Online leaker Yan2295 revealed that Rockstar had created four sub-sections to work on GTA Online DLC and "Red Dead Redemption 2." Two other sections are focusing on another title and GTA 6. However, this speculation remains unconfirmed.

The success of the GTA series is an impetus for Rockstar Games to offer a new installment but GTA fans are in still limbo on when the GTA 6 deployment will materialize. Players have been advised to continue playing GTA 5 and to consider what "Red Dead Redemption 2" will have to offer. There are also hush-hushes that "Red Dead Redemption 2'"' features might provide a sort of preview into 'Grand Theft Auto 6.'

Previous speculations have suggested the introduction of a female protagonist in "Grand Theft Auto 6." A different storyline is also doing the rounds of Internet forums dedicated on GTA.  GTA6 will use Texas as its backdrop.
