Reasons Why The Acura NSX GT3 Lose At Daytona 24 Hours

It was the Acura NSX GT3 model's debut into the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours race this year. It was during such time that the downsides of the design were apparent to racers and enthusiasts particularly its underdeveloped hook and fender. It was also said to have lacked vital parts that, if installed, could have landed the win.

The Downsides.  The Acura NSX GT3 raced through Rolex Daytona 24 Hours without a fender and a hood. Initially, enthusiasts labeled it to have several parts missing which resulted to its discontinuance towards the finish. As reported by Jalopnik, the vehicle retired in the last half-hour of the race and finished fifth. In fact, the team's performance was deemed impressive and was efficient. Therefore, critics pointed out the defeat caused by missing parts.

The Results. Driving under the #93 entry, the vehicle was safely towed towards the pit lane after it died. It was then classified as 11th and was still considered an accomplishment for the car since it was its first to enter the race. In fact, PR News Wire reported that it completed with a highly successful outcome. Michael Shank Racing did dominate during the nighttime hours with the Acura NSX GT3 leading 171 of 634 of the laps.

The vehicles went against premium automotive brands who have been continuously attending the race such as Ferrari, Audi, BMW, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz. The 27 entry list of the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours race was likewise considered to be the largest of the four classes to compete in an endurance race. Given the standards, the Acuras' performance was still up to par.

The Acura NSX GT3 has a history of predecessors winning championship races. In 1991, 1992, and 1993, it won the Carmel Lights championships and aced the 2009 Le Mans Series with both LMP1 and LMP2 classes.
