The luxury automaker Cadillac has been doing a great job with the current lineup, but there is one thing that the automaker lacks, and that's in the SUV-and-crossover category. That's why the automaker decided to build a smaller crossover called the XT3 and will start the production by the second half of 2018.

According to the reports, the 2018 Cadillac XT3 will be a compact crossover that will allow the carmaker to make the foray into the fast growing segment. Its grill and body contour will be just similar to larger siblings. In addition, the car is likely to have LED lamps and may be released in a few trims.

The vehicle will have a cabin made with top-quality materials. A lot of quality leather and wood trim will also be used in the cabin. Equipped with features like dual-zone automated climate control, as well as a touchscreen-based infotainment setup and storage cubicles. Other features like reclining rear seats and panoramic sunroof are expected to be present on the vehicle.

Meanwhile, no further details were revealed about the drivetrain of the upcoming XT3.  However, one of its engines may be equipped with a 2.0 liter with 220HP and 250 pound-feet of torque. The engine may be coupled to an advanced 9-speed automatic transmission gearbox. There have been reports that the new model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.5 sec, with a top speed of 130 mph.

The exact price tag of the 2018 Cadillac XT3 is still unknown but might be priced around $35,000. It's also said to appear in several showrooms in late 2017. The new XT3 is a model the company is heavily betting on. From its design to amenities, the car outstands well almost in every category. It might surpass its main rivals like the BMW X3, Audi Q3 and GLC from Mercedes-Benz if it'll be equipped with the right powertrain and a reasonable price.
