Mazda 6 2017 Review: Comfortable and Graceful Family Sedan; Why Doesn't it Sell More?

The Mazda 6 2017 is a comfortable, competent, and sensible choice for a midsize family sedan. It has a strong performance, evocative styling, and plenty of driver engagement. This is truly one of America's favorite midsize family sedans.

Pros and Features. The 6 is a midsize sedan which comfortably seats five. It is comfortable ad stylish and can easily compete with most SUVs for family-friendly transportation. It has very graceful styling both in and out.

It has a very responsive engine and its transmission feels faster than most family sedans. It is also impressively fuel efficient and can easily compete with any car in the class.

It has reassuring handling that makes this sedan a fun to drive. It also has a fantastic technology interface, considered to be one of the best in the class.

Cons. The midsize Mazda sedan has a stiff ride quality. It also has no hybrid model or all-wheel-drive option, which is preferred for cars of this class.

Unlike most of its competitors, it is not as fuel efficient. Additionally, it only offers a four-cylinder engine while its competitors offer six-cylinder for the same price.

What's New? The Mazda 6 2017 only has some minor features shuffled around from optional to standard. A new G-Vectoring Control system was also added for even greater agility. In addition, last year's Technology package has been replaced with a new and improved Premium package.

Models. The Mazda sedan is available in three models: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. The Sport features 17-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry and ignition, cruise control, and other comfort and tech features. It also has a Mazda Connect infotainment system with voice control and HD radio with internet streaming.

The Touring model adds 19-inch wheels and automatic headlights. It also has an advanced keyless entry, blind spot monitoring, forward collision mitigation, and other safety features. It has options for a sunroof, an 11-speaker Bose sound system, and a Touring Premium package.

The Grand Touring has the options of the Touring and adds LED fog lights, automatic high beams, and a rear trunk lid spoiler. A forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and a lane-keeping assistance system are also included. The Grand Touring is eligible for the GT Premium package which increases fuel efficiency. It also adds active grille shutters, interior ambient lighting, and other unique interior trim elements.

Verdict. The Mazda 6 2017 is a very elegant and graceful car but will still attract those who are after a smaller sedan. While it is not as fuel efficient and doesn't offer a very powerful engine, it is still one of the most beautiful choices out there. It is ideal for executives and as a family-friendly everyday vehicle. It is very fun to drive and comes highly recommended.
