Porsche Cayenne 2017 Review: Sporty and Indulgent

The Porsche Cayenne 2017 is an indulgent luxury car that still remains cool and sporty. Considering its price point, it comes packed with a lot of options and features to suit everyone's needs.

Pros and Features. The Porsche Cayenne has very impressive handling for a crossover SUV. The driver will feel like he's driving a sports car with all the comforts of an SUV.

There is also a wide selection of several strong engine types available. Additionally, the car has an exquisite interior with an eye for detail. Porsche gives the Cayenne so many customization options.

Cons. One unfortunate downside is its small cargo capacity. In addition, considering its high price point, some of its paid optional features should already be incorporated in its standard package.

What's New? The 2017 Cayenne now has Porsche's latest touchscreen infotainment system which greatly improves functionality. This is available for all models. There are also new models available including Limited Edition Cayenne and Cayenne S E-Hybrid Platinum.

Models. The Porsche Cayenne 2017 is available in a lot of different models: Cayenne, S, S E-Hybrid, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, Cayenne Platinum, and Cayenne S E-Hybrid Platinum. All models have different engines and consequent improvements in performance.

The base Cayenne has a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It also features 18-inch wheels, xenon headlights, a navigation system, partial leather upholstery, and other comfort and tech features.

The Cayenne-S upgrades to a 3.6-liter turbocharged V6 with 420 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It has 19-inch wheels, power steering, a sunroof, and front and rear parking sensors. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid has a special hybrid-electric powertrain with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and an electric motor. The two can produce 416 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque.

The Cayenne GTS is a more powerful version of the Cayenne S. It's engine has 440 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It also has a lot of additional performance-enhancers such as high-performance brakes, a specially tuned suspension, and front sport seats.

The Cayenne Turbo adds a turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 engine and adaptive LED headlights. The Cayenne S Turbo has a Turbo V8 engine with 570 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It also has ultra high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes, an electronic-locking rear differential, and a Sport Chrono package.

The two Platinum Edition models have several popular options to choose from. The E-Hybrid version has an auxiliary climate system that allows preheating or precooling of the cabin.

Pricing. The Basic Cayenne has an MSR of $71,225. The fully-loaded Turbo S goes up to a whopping $176,350.

Verdict. The Porsche Cayenne 2017 is amazing. The buyer gets what they paid for. It's essentially like driving a high-end sports car with all the perks and comforts of a crossover SUV. Very good buy for those who want to remain sporty and have a family car at the same time.
