Samsung reveals two new water-resistant smartphones from their Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A3 2017 smartphones will be available for pre-ordering in the latter half of January.

The Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A3 2017. The 2017 versions of the Galaxy A5 and A3 smartphones from Samsung have been revealed. Both models are IP68 water and dust resistant with improved battery life, have reversible USB Type-C ports, and has a micro SD support of up to 256 GB. Their similarities end there as the A5 and A3 are very much different from each other.

The Galaxy A5 2017 is the bigger phone with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display. It features Samsung's Fast Charging Technology just like the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge and is designed to give the battery performance a boost. Tests reveal that the A5 can charge up to 50 percent in less than 30 minutes. The Galaxy A5 runs on a 1.9 GHz octa-core processor and has a 3,000 mAh battery.

The Galaxy A3, on the other hand, has a 4.7-inch touchscreen display and a 2,350 MHz battery. It runs on a 1.6 GHz processor. The cameras on the A5 and A3 are different from each other as well. The A3 has a 13 MP rear camera with an 8 MP camera on the front. Both front and rear cameras on the A5 are 16 MP with f/1.9 lenses.

On the unveiling of the Galaxy A3 and A5, Samsung Electronics president of mobile communications business DJ Koh said, "At Samsung, we are always trying to ensure our customers have the most advanced products on the market." He added, "We integrated our unique approach to design as well as the features Galaxy customers have come to love to provide added performance without compromising on style."

The Galaxy A3 will retail at €329 while the A5 €429 which is around US$350 and US$450 respectively. Unlike their predecessors, The Galaxy A3 and A5 2017 will most likely not be coming to the United States.
