The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport: The Nissan Rogue's Sporty Little Brother

Nissan announced on Monday that it added a new SUV to its portfolio. The Nissan Qashqai is a compact crossover and the top-selling model in Europe imported to the US under the name Rogue Sport.

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. In an attempt to capture customers who prefer smaller vehicles such as compact sedans, Nissan has added the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport to its line of SUVs available in the United States. The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport is actually a re-branded Nissan Qashqai which is the hottest-selling Nissan model in Europe.

The Nissan Rogue's platform is the very same platform the Rogue Sport is built on. It is manufactured in Japan and the UK for markets that prefer vehicles more compact than what the US market prefers. The Nissan Rogue Sport is 12 inches shorter than the Nissan Rogue and has one-fourth less cargo space.

While the demand for crossovers in the US has grown stronger, the previous month saw the 2017 Nissan Rogue as the single best-selling model in the US industry, not including full-size pickup trucks. Banking on the 2017 Nissan Rogue's success by re-branding the Qashqai under the Rogue nameplate will allow Nissan to address the demand for smaller vehicles.

The slot the Nissan Rogue Sport will be occupying was previously occupied by the Rogue Select. The Rogue Select was an older Rogue model for the budget-conscious consumer.

Vice president of North American product planning Michael Bunce says that the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport will be able to offer an alternative sporty crossover option to consumers who are looking to buy a Honda Civic or a Nissan Sentra. Its marketing will focus on singles, couples without children, and empty-nesters who prefer a smaller and sporty version of the Nissan Rogue.

Bunce declined to reveal the price tag of the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport. He did, however, say that it will be "extremely affordable".
