Honda CR-V 2017 Review: Bigger and Better, Expect to See the Redesigned SUV at the Super Bowl

The Honda CR-V 2017 has been completely redesigned. The SUV is now bigger and better than its class-leading predecessor. It will also be featured in a Super Bowl ad later this year.

Pros and Features. The Honda CR-V 2017 features a turbocharged engine. This delivers a rare combination of both fuel economy and power. The SUV's interior has a gigantic cargo and one of the biggest for its class.

Cons. The car's touchscreen controls are difficult to use. This is due to a lack of separate tuning knobs. The Base LX model's engine is too weak and thirsty for a turbo. The optional navigation system is also unreliable.

What's New? The 2017 model of the SUV is entirely new. It has more aggressive styling and a turbocharged engine. It also features an improved interior design.

Honda CR-V 2017 at the Super Bowl. Honda will run a Super Bowl ad for its second straight year in a row. The ad will promote the redesigned 2017 Honda CR-V. This year marks the SUV's 20th anniversary.

The 2017 Super Bowl ad will mark the third time Honda will feature its CR-V during the game. Last year, Honda ran a 60-second Super Bowl ad for its Ridgeline truck. It featured sheep singing Queen's smash hit "Somebody to Love."

In 2012, the previous generation CR-V was featured with Matthew Broderick. It was on a spot paying homage to the 1986 movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

Models. The best-selling SUV comes in four models: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. The LX has a less powerful engine and no sunroof. It also has a small 5-inch display screen. The EX has a standard sunroof and a bigger 7-inch touchscreen, power driver seat, and a turbocharged engine.

The EX-L has leather seats and interior, premium audio, and a power liftgate. The touring goes all-out with LED headlights, an amazing sounding subwoofer, and much more.

Pricing. The basic model LX 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl CVT) has an MSRP of $26,245. The well-equipped model EX 4dr SUV (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT) has an MSRP of $27,595. The fully-loaded model EX-L w/ Navigation 4dr SUV (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT) has an MSRP of $31,095.

Verdict. There is no doubt that the Honda CR-V is the best-selling SUV in America. The new and redesigned 2017 model is even better. The Super Bowl ad is just icing on its 20th-year anniversary cake.
