Apple Sales Declining, Production Decreased: Is This the End of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus?

Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus production is decreasing. Smartphone reviews and iPhone vs. Android sales both indicate that Apple is losing to Android.

iPhone Production. Apple has recently announced that it will cut production by ten percent during the first quarter of 2017. This is due to slow sales in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The announcement was delivered on December 30 of last year. Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported that sales of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were less than what Apple expected.

Apart from low sales, the American hardware manufacturing company is unable to meet sales demand for the iPhone 7 Plus. While the larger phone remains popular, Apple constantly encounters production problems due to low supply of camera sensors.

Reports reveal that this is the second year in a row that Apple has had to cut down iPhone production during its first quarter. Moreover, the main cause for the cuts is because of the low demand in general. Whether or not this is due to a lack of supply in the Plus is unknown. What is known is iPhone vs. Android sales will show that the latter is doing very well.

Android OS vs. iOS.  In the iPhone users welcomed the latest iOS updates and would immediately download and upgrade their iOS version. However, iOS 10 saw a decline in updates. Some iPhone users even opted not to upgrade their iPhone due to various interface and design flaws.

On the other hand, Android users simply cannot wait for their Android 7.0 Nougat upgrades. The Android Nougat update is already available to Google and Nexus smartphones, some Sony Xperia smartphones, OnePlus smartphones, and some HTC smartphones. The Samsung flagship phones and Huawei smartphones are expecting their Android Nougat upgrades early this year as well.

Hardware. Apple is known for its quality hardware and state-of-the-art design. In the past, only Samsung flagship phones could compete with the iPhone. Nowadays, there has been an influx of high-end Android smartphones that have really tipped the scales for the latter in iPhone vs. Android sales.

Verdict. It's hard to say if the iPhone has already lost against Android smartphones. Android has a lot of new smartphones that offer the same if not arguably better features than what Apple has to offer based on smartphone reviews.

The iPhone has a good lineup but it is very limited. They only have a few models and can only produce so much. The iPhone is just one company and it is fighting a smartphone battle against dozens of Android smartphone brands.
