2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Review: Five-Star Truck To Embarrass Chevrolet Silverado

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is the 2016 best-selling car in the United States. It embarrasses the Chevrolet Silverado, Ram Pickup and its other truck competitors with its power and speed. But is the Raptor as good as they say it is? Read our 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor review here.

The first Ford F-150 Raptor was one of those creations that will remain in the eye of motorsport fans in general and the terrain in particular. Since then, the American pick-up has done nothing but reap success; and to follow this path, Ford made the new generation even better. Now the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is the one to beat.

Mechanical and Power

Presented in Detroit, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor aims to be the definitive 4x4. It is about delivering a vehicle for extreme use on offroad but can also be use in standard day to day activity. So much has been the commotion caused by this pickup that other brands like Ram and Chevrolet, are already developing a version to cope and the guys at CarandDriver rates it 4.5 stars.

Under the chest of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, one can find a new mechanical assembly formed of a 3.5L V6 engine that effectively has two cylinders and nearly three liters less displacement than the previous generation, all thanks to the EcoBoost technology and a pair of turbochargers. It can now produce an output of 39 hp and 76 lb.-ft. of torque more than the previous V8 and can achieve an impressive 450 hp and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. The renovation does not end there, as one also find the new 10-speed automatic transmission that not only helps with fuel consumption but also keeps the engine in the range where the torque is causing more adrenaline feel.

Interior

Inside the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, the front seats are better than the previous generation since it has lateral support. The interior finishes also has more resistance and some switches in the ceiling where you can connect extras like auxiliary lights, winch, etc. The overall space will depend on the configuration one would choose. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is available in standard cabon or double. In the latter, one can enjoy an impressive space on all sides and is that with almost six meters more in length.

Driving Experience

The drive system of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, is completely new as it incorporates the six modes of operation that completely changes the behavior of the truck. One can switch between them with the push of a few buttons on the steering wheel: Normal, Sport, Weather (for use in snow and ice on the road), Mud / Sand, Lower and Rock Crawl.

The experience of driving the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is certainly very special that it will even embarrass its main competitor: the Chevrolet Silverado, according to AutoMobile. One would have an impressive truck daunting with flared fenders and offroad tires as well an incredible engine and transmission that respond to a touch of the accelerator.

In conclusion, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is certainly a very capable vehicle on the road and off the road, a fun toy and a practical car. The price is rather high but who cares? If you got the money to splurge, it is worth every penny.
