2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS: Prototype Spotted; Futuristic Lights And Release Date Leaked [VIDEO]

Mercedes-Benz, a globally known automobile manufacturer, continues to develop and improve its next-gen CLS. Spotted in motion for the second time around, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS prototype shows off along the streets of Germany.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS is covered in vinyl and doesn't show any more details. Though it is wrapped with a heavy camouflage, it shows an independent front-end, a flat and stretched roofline, and a huge tailgate eye. It also upholds its sporty profile, while toned-shaped with its brand new design language. Mercedes-Benz E-class will be the basis for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS platform. However, there is still no confirmation yet whether it will follow the brand's renaming scheme as CLE because of this.

The Mercedes-Benz E-class has a fascinating dual 12.3 inch display, a new seat design, an option of 64 colors (lights) for compartment customization, touch control buttons on the steering wheel, and evidently --- all the radar-guided gadgets and safety equipment an occupant will ever need. Adopting the new E-Class' design and architecture gives the impression that it would be transformative inside and out. It also means that the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS would adapt some of its powertrains, which most likely includes an electric version. An AMG rendition could also be produced, which might include a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine with as much as 612 PS (604 HP), as in the E 63 S, according to CARSCOOPS.

In addition, there is one speculation regarding the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS --- having high-tech headlights to be named as digital light. The headlight system will light like a high-definition projector since its LED system will be using a chip that has over one million micro-mirrors. Details of these futuristic headlights have been unveiled as a concept on the Mercedes-Benz S Class, which is looked forward to on the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLS, iTechPost reported. It is also projected that the next generation 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS will hit the United States market in mid-2018 and most probably as a 2019 model. Updates about its design, powertrain, and other details are expected to be announced in 2017.
