'Stranger Things' Season 2 Latest News: Eleven's Return And All-New Characters

All eyes are on Netflix as it gears up for production of the heavily-anticipated second season of its original science-fiction series "Stranger Things," which concluded this year to roaring approval from both critics and a global fanbase. Among the biggest updates so far are a confirmation that actress Millie Bobby Brown will return as fan-favorite Eleven, or 'El,' and the announcement of new characters.

The two new characters, who are siblings, are named Max and Billy and will be played by Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, respectively, according to News Everyday. Although little details have been provided about the new characters, the title of Season 2's first episode, "Madmax," provides a few hints. Max is said to be strong, confident and generally boyish, at least by 1980s standards. Max is also said to have a complicated past that has made her a generally suspicious person.

Another new character, Murray Burman, will be played by Brett Gelman. The role will portray Burman as a former reporter turned conspiracy theorist. Lured to Hawkins by the lab that once drew much press when Eleven's mother, Terry Ives (played by Aimee Mullins) had been part of a government experiment, he begins his own investigation.

More news that fans welcomed with open arms was Netflix's confirmation that Millie Bobbie Brown would indeed return. This is despite the ambiguous ending of Season 1 that showed Eleven disappearing together with the Demagorgon that she managed to kill, using up all her energy in the process. Producers would not say, however, what episode Eleven would reappear in or whether Brown would return as a guest, instead of a regular cast member, according to HNGN.

Rumors surrounding Eleven's return have been plenty. Some suggest that El might reappear on Stranger Things in a different form, while others think that the title of Season 2's Episode 7, "The Secret Cabin," might refer to where El went into hiding after defeating the Demagorgon.
