"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has recently released its trailer which shows action packed scenes and a glimpse of Darth Vader. Here are all we know about the "Rogue One" including its intention to break an important "Star Wars" tradition

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" Trailer

A new trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" brings news about Jyn Erso's history and life, more action scenes can be seen in the new trailer and a swift glimpse of Darth Vader. The photos, which were published by "EW" show one of the great protagonists of the saga along with other images of Felicity Jones and Diego Luna, who play Jyn Erso and Captain Cassian Andor according to EW

Directed by Gareth Edwards and located in time between the events recounted in "Revenge of the Sixth" and "A New Hope", the film will star Felicity Jones as giving life to Jyn Erso. His father, Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) is the one who builds the energy needed by the Empire to launch the Death Star, and both rebels and the dark side want to meet.

Breaking Traditions

"Rogue One" is the first independent title of the Star Wars saga that tells the story of a group of heroes who embarks on a mission to build the Death Star, the weapon of ultimate destruction of the Empire. This key event in the chronology of Star Wars brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, being part of something bigger than themselves.

Another tradition that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will break is the iconic opening of Star Wars. The iconic opening to George Lucas‘ Star Wars back in 1977 established an expositional intro through a title crawl. This have become such an integral part of the Star Wars film universe that they’ve been included in all seven feature films released to date and will almost certainly continue with "Star Wars: Episode VIII" and "Star Wars: Episode IX. Gareth Edwards".

But Rogue One has a different plan.

In a new write-up from Variety, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy teased that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", described as a World War II-style adventure film, will open in a manner that’s more in keeping with that genre’s tradition rather than Star Wars‘ own spin on things and may not include the iconic opening according to Collider

George Lucas Still Matters

It is worth noting that Disney bought the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas in 2012 for millions of dollars. During this time all have been respectful to each other and though Lucas creative role in the franchise has been significantly reduced, he is still very much part of the film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". Gareth Edwards has confirmed that George Lucas made a brief visit to the set of this first Star Wars spinoff and even got to see several things that he liked and he would not want appear on screen.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be in cinemas on December.
