The 2017 Toyota Yaris may not sport an extravagant cosmetic appearance, but it is equipped with an array of must-have safety tech and a touch screen for only $16,815.
The optional equipment column of the test Yaris was just a blank space, without even a single extra. It was equipped with a manual 6-speed transmission. The seat adjustment was manual as well. However, passengers do not need to wind the windows down as they are electric.
It packs a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 105 HP (horsepower), making it an apt car to get around all over the town with. While the optional equipment column seems unadorned, the standard equipment list is quite drawn-out.

The car is also rigged with a lane departure alert that warns the driver when he strays from his lane. With the help of a camera, the automatic high beams identify onrushing vehicles and adjust the car's headlight brightness accordingly.
In addition, the 2017 Toyota Yaris boasts a mammoth 7-inch color touchscreen in the center console. It features USB ports and Bluetooth for commuters to connect their smartphones and use it hands-free. They can also access Stitcher, Aha, and Pandora --- thanks to the Connected Service Suite.
In other news, Toyota Motor Corp predicted that in the next six years, i.e. by 2020, hybrid cars will contribute to a staggering 20 percent of its total vehicle sales in India; a significant improvement from the current 2 percent, a senior company exec told Reuters (via The Economic Times).
The popular car maker already sells the Camry hybrid in the country. However, it now plans to incorporate hybrid technology in a slew of other models including the Prius and Corolla sedans.
