Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, News & Rumors [VIDEO]; Galaxy S8 Likely To Boast iPhone's Best Features?

Samsung is gearing up to debut a couple of Galaxy S8 variants next year. Latest whispers suggest that the South Korean handset maker may unveil the Galaxy S8 in April and not during the Mobile World Congress that is slated to take place in Barcelona from Feb. 27 to March 2, 2017. Moreover, the purported device is said to come out with one of Apple iPhone's best features.

Following the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung is now concentrating on their next Galaxy smartphone. If recently surfaced rumors are anything to go by, the next-generation smartphone is turning out to become a fascinating device. Rumored to arrive with 3D Touch Feature, the Galaxy S8 seems to take a cue from their controversy-plagued Note 7 and replace the standard flat panel with dual-curved displays for each model.

Reliable tech tipster Evan Blass took to his Twitter handle (@evleaks) recently to unravel the model numbers for Samsung's imminent flagships for 2017. Samsung may opt to dump the SM-G94 model in favor of the SM-G950 for their Galaxy S8, according to The Indian Express.

Samsung previously rolled out the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge bearing the model numbers SM-G920 and G925 respectively. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge were launched with model numbers SM-G930 and SM-G935 respectively. Sequentially, the Galaxy S8 should come bearing the SM-G940 model number.

Moreover, latest reports from the Korean media suggest that the Galaxy S8 will be up for grabs in two display variants i.e. 5.7 and 6.2 inches. The larger S8 variant will sport a bezel-less design and will not feature a home button. However, Samsung will retain the curved screen for their Galaxy S8.

Multiple reports claim that Samsung may go for a pressure-sensitive display for their Galaxy S8. If this comes to fruition, the device may feature Force Touch like the Apple Watch. The said feature is also rumored to have earmarks of the iPhone 6s and the recently launched iPhone 7, according to Slash Gear.

The Galaxy S8 may face lawsuits if the 3D Touch feature remains on the device. However, several manufacturers including Huawei came out with the OEM with Samsung's pressure-sensitive display. In line with that, Apple once turned blind eye to other manufacturers who employed the feature. It remains to be seen if Samsung turns out to be an exception.
