2016 SEMA Show: Kia Rocks Four Hand-Built Concepts

Kia Motors unveiled four new hand-built customized vehicles on the opening day of the 2016 SEMA Show. The Kia custom built vehicle explores active and diverse lifestyles ranging from sports to entertainment to business travel. It is believed that the future models will not only be customized but will basically be able to drive itself.

Kia showcased a total of five custom vehicles in its booth at the SEMA show, each of the four cars features what the modern day man will require of his vehicle. Auto Channel reported that the Telluride full-size hybrid SUV concept that was first unveiled early this year at the North American International Auto Show also made its debut at SEMA.

School of Rock Sedona

Kia in Partnering with School of Rock, turned over a minivan to LGE-CTS, it set a creative session with the concerned parties and the School of Rock Sedona gig van was born. The Sedona, a rolling recording studio, features everything aspiring musicians will crave in a vehicle, such as a studio and a place to chill and relax. The Sedona features a base of red, and a contrasting white tan and black accents. The School of Rock logos is hand painted, flat-black painted 20-inch Vossen VFS-6 wheels with Toyo Proxes 255, 45R 20 tires.

The removal of the driver side B pillar, steering assembly and gear selector makes room for a digital mixing board and dual flat screen monitors to record tracks. When a track is laid down, the recording light illuminates. Also, the boom microphone hangs from the roof, Sound studio quality acoustic foam panels line the interior to reduce exterior noise during a recording session, the Sedona also has a lift gate, a storage on the roof for guitars and other instruments.

Niro Triathlon

The 2017 Niro hybrid vehicle has an interior that suits all lifestyle, it was customized by LGE-CTS Motorsports. LGE removed the roof from the D-pillars thereby creating a small bed, space for the installation of tablet computer mount, custom bike rack and tool box thereby making it easy to keep safety and training equipment. Also, safety laser bike lane light is mounted to the rear which illuminates the road behind the vehicle thus athletes are able to monitor speed, time and distance covered via the tablet.

It features a 265-35R 18 Dunlop Direzza sports tires and lightweight 18 inches Method Rally Race wheels. The passenger side B pillar is removed to facilitate easy entry into a cabin designed for comfort and efficiency. The back is modified to open on a rear pivot hinge while the front door has been redesigned to open wider than a stock Niro, custom cabinets hold supplies, attire, parts and a portable shower that allows for a quick post race clean up. 

Sorento Ski Gondola

The Kia Sorento was built by LUX Motorwerks to travel to mountain tops and also to tackle snow and ice. The luxurious and autonomous driving Sorento Ski Gondola is all about climbing to higher ground in style, comfort, and warmth, this is made possible through the Dominator Rubber Tracks. The custom metal roof rack provides storage space for poles and skis, also the removal of the B-pillar creates cargo space for bags, boots, and other necessaries.

The Gondola rear doors are also converted to suicide style doors, Up front, headlights were painted black, silver and orange, LED light bars were installed to increase visibility in all conditions. The interior features custom door panels, dash, and center console, with a personalized tablet and a reboot of black and orange leather to compliment the orange and PPG Silver Metallic paint of the exterior and a durable waterproof Line-X treatment to protect against the ice and snow.

Soul First Class

The Soul First Class built by LUX Motorwerks allows business travelers to work and relax during business travels. The first class vehicle features rear-facing seats, the absence of steering wheel and other luxury enhancements which help to optimize work and rest amidst tight work schedule. It has a revamped front dash that houses two rear facing front seats and a 40 inches Samsung LED TV connected to a Mac mini computer system and premium audio speakers, the center console has two tablets.

The Soul's exterior features lower and upper grille integrated with LED lighting and Rotiform Monoblock CCV 19inches wheels fitted to the body. It features in its interior  a white and gray leather and diamond stitching throughout the cabin with a modern gray wood floor.
