2017 BMW 5 Series Complete Range And Engine Details Revealed

The 2017 BMW 5 Series official launched has been one of the biggest news in the automotive world last week as it boasts a stylish exterior based on the current technology BMW 7 Series as its platform for low weight and gesture control on certain functions of the multimedia system. Now the complete range of engines offered had been revealed.

Initially, the new generation BMW 5 Series will be available with four engines: two petrol and two diesel, all with standard rear-wheel drive and four-wheel xDrive as an option. Steptronic automatic transmission eight-speed governs the entire range except at the lower range of diesel which will be available with a manual six-speed transmission. These are the engines that the new BMW 5 Series will offer, according to Autoweek.

2017 BMW 5 Series Gasoline Range

Gasoline range starts with the BMW 530i and 530i xDrive , both models feature an engine of four-cylinder petrol and 2.0-liter displacement. This engine is already known since it is part of the range of the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series. It produces 252 hp and 350 Nm of torque and can accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 6.0 seconds. Standardize consumption is measured at 5.4 liters per 100 km.

The BMW 540i and 540i xDrive will be the most powerful gasoline options. An engine block of the renowned gasoline inline six-cylinder and 3.0-liter cylinder in the large sedan raises its maximum output power up to 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque and can be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.8 seconds .

2017 BMW 5 Series Diesel Range

The diesel options are certainly more efficient with consumption that measures at 4.0 liters per 100 km . This is the case of the BMW 520d with change Steptronic with a manual transmission. This is slightly increased to 4.1 l / 100 km and 4.2 liters for the BMW 520d xDrive. Both ranges will have four - cylinder that produces 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

Higher performance and consumption is offered by the BMW 530d and 530d xDrive. The diesel engine enjoys a 3.0-liter six-cylinder and is enormously faster than the four-cylinder diesel reaching 100 km / h in 5.4 seconds with four-wheel drive, but the consumption is between 4.5 and 4 7 l / 100 km only.

More Range Coming Soon

The BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition will be released around March 2017, according to CarsGuide, and will be the most efficient option for the entire range. This version will have a four-cylinder diesel combined with Steptronic change specially designed to seek maximum efficiency.

It will achieve the same performance figures yet all its mechanism focuses on greater fuel efficiency thus is able to reduce its consumption to 3.9 l / 100 km even if it sacrifices very slightly its performance: zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds (+0.1 seconds).

Information about a possible plug-in hybrid 530e able to provide a consumption of only 2.0 l / 100 km and the impressive m550i xDrive are also reported. This only proves that the future of the 2017 BMW 5 Series looks good.
