2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo Review: An Economical Sedan With An Awesome Performance

The 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo has already reached distributors this October and a review is a must so people can decide if the SR turbo is worth to buy or not. The Sentra is the third best-selling mid-size sedan, second only to Corolla and Civic, and with the arrival of the SR Turbo, it is expected to boost sales even further as this car produces an awesome performance but with a very economical price of just $21,990.

Awesome Upgrades For An Already Awesome Car

The Nissan Sentra has been equipped with a modest engine since the 90s, when the most powerful option was a 2.5 of 175 HP used in the SE-R V-Spec series. Since then, the 1.8 and 2.0 engines were used widely, giving the car driving comfort, but no major claims in performance or sportiness.

Now, here comes the US market 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo new version equipped with 1.6-liter turbo engine of 188hp and 77 lb.-ft. of torque. That's almost a 50 percent power increase from the regular Nissan Sentra that outputs 130hp, 1.8-litre naturally aspirated unit. The engine - which has direct injection - is the same as the Juke and other models of the brand in Europe and it appears that is working with a CVT Xtronic box or six-speed manual.

To accommodate the new engine and its extra strength, the suspension of the Nissan Sentra SR Turbo received the suspension recalibration, which was 25% stiffer at the front axle. The brake discs were also higher and the model now has dynamic stability control making your Nissan Sentra SR Turbo a quiet ride without harsh acceleration noises and firm braking. Traits that a Sentra driver would love.

Other Improved Aesthetic

Being the first turbocharged engine in a North-American Sentra is a story in itself, but Nissan went further by making the trim's suspension look sporty, improve aerodynamics design while having it sit on unique 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Nissan Sentra SR Turbo will also come with LED lights with low beam projector headlights with LED accents, a rear spoiler with integrated LED brake lights, multimedia with 5.8-inch screen, Android Auto and Car Play and leather seats with heating at the front.

Our verdict is that the Sentra SR Turbo is perfect for those who are looking for a more aggressive product with awesome added features and an increase in power. It is definitely a worth buy.
